Zip is a format for compressing the file in your system. With compression the size of the file is reduced so that it is easy to transfer through the network or internet. It saves a lot of space in your system so that you can have lots of content in your system in compressed format.

The files are compressed individually so that it is easy to retrieve a particular file alone if needed. Different types of files are compressed with different algorithms so that the files are compressed efficiently. To zip a file you should install WinZip in your system. Once you have installed it in your system it is a breeze to compress files. If you have windows operating system it is possible to compress the files by using the “Send to” option in the context menu which is got by using the right click of your mouse. In the windows explorer you can select the files that you want to compress and then right click the mouse.

In the context menu you would see an option to send it to a compressed file. Just click it and the files are compressed into a single zip file. Even after creating the zip file you can rename it to any name you want. This is the easiest method to zip a file. Alternatively you can open the WinZip program and use the wizard to create a zip file. For users who are not new to WinZip and computers a classic interface is also available.
