Tinctures are more effective than the dried herbs that are used for treatment. If you make tincture at home you can even make a quart at the price of an ounce that you buy in the stores. Moreover you can make your own formulas for the tincture that can be more effective. The ingredients needed to make your own tincture are fresh herbs or dried herbs, Vodka or Rum (80-100 proof), glass jars and cheesecloth that are unbleached. Cut the herbs finely or powder them if they are dried. Put them in the glass jar and pour alcohol over it until they are submerged. Now seal the jar tightly and place the jar in a dark room. Make sure that you shake the jar daily. When you are ready to bottle it, filter it using the cheesecloth and pour it into a dark colored jar. Squeeze the herbs to extract the tincture. Label the glass and use it.
