Buttermilk is very easy to make. It is low in fat content than the milk and it is tastier to have. It can be used in making many bakery products. The easiest way to make buttermilk requires a cup of whole milk and a teaspoon of cream of tartar or lemon juice. To the cup of whole milk add the lemon juice or the cream of tartar. Stir it. Leave this at room temperature for about an hour. You could see that the milk starts to curdle at this time. Once your see it curdle start stirring it again. Now it is ready to be served.
If you do not have lemon juice or the cream of tartar in hand you can use vinegar instead of that. The procedure is the same even if you use vinegar. Now-a-days there are products like buttermilk powder sold in the market. You can visit any grocery stores and get such products.
