If you have a broken key on your Dell laptop keyboard, there are a few things you can do to fix it. Depending on the severity of the break, you may be able to simply pop the key back into place. If the key is more severely damaged, you may need to replace the entire key.
To popped the key back into place, start by taking a look at the break to determine which way the key needs to be positioned. Then, use a flathead screwdriver or something similar to gently pry the key up from the keyboard. Once it’s up far enough, you should be able to line up the Key with the appropriate slot and push it back down.
If your Key is more severely damaged, you’ll need to remove it completely and order a replacement. Dell keys are often easy to find and purchase online. To remove your old Key, start by popping off the surrounding keys with a flathead screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the plastic around the keys.
Once the surrounding keys are removed, there will likely be two screws holding in your broken key. Remove these screws and then carefully pull out the old key. Install your new replacement key by following these same steps in reverse order.
