When we pluck a guitar string that induces that string to vibrate and this vibration is transferred into the wood of the guitar through the guitar bridge and nut. Then the wood vibrates sympathetically with the strings (i.e. at the same frequency) and by the combined vibration of the wood in the guitar and the strings is changed into sound in one of a few ways. The vibration of wood and strings transferred to air molecules inside the guitars hollow body. This is translated then into the ‘modulations in air pressure?, which the ear translates as sound. In electronic guitar, the vibration of metal strings are transferred into electrical current through pick-ups and the signal is sent along a patch cable to an amplifying device which then ultimately sends the signal to a speaker. Due to the speaker vibrates at the same frequency as the guitar string and this vibration of the speaker creates ‘modulations in air pressure’ which are translated by the ear into sound.
