Bio-diesel is a clean burning fuel that is non-toxic, biodegradable, and renewable. It is because of these characteristics it is an eco-friendly alternative. Bio-diesel is made from crops like sunflower, palm oil, hemp, rapeseed, canola, soybean, flax, and other vegetable oils. When we say bio-diesel it could be 100% bio diesel or a mixture of petroleum with bio diesel. If you are using bio-diesel mixture, you can use it as it is in your automobile whereas 100% bio diesel should be used after some modifications done to your automobile.

To make bio-diesel, first you have to create a NaOH solution by dissolving 1 gm of NaOH in 1 liter of water. Next take 10 ml of Isopropyl alcohol and dissolve 1 ml of wasted vegetable oil. Now use an eyedropper and add NaOH solution to the Isopropyl alcohol solution ml by ml and check the pH value of the Isopropyl solution frequently. Stop adding NaOH when you get a pH value between 8 and 9. After this you have to find out how many milliliters of NaOH were used to get this Bio-diesel. This would help you in preparing large quantities later. Always use mask when mixing the ingredients.
